A Wedding Reception at Royal Oaks Country Club
Featuring Jenny & David
I was so honored to be the Vancouver wedding photographer for Jenny and David’s elegant yet relaxed wedding reception at Royal Oaks Country Club in Vancouver, Washington. As one of the venue's preferred vendors, I was thrilled to be connected with this sweet couple through their incredible team.

How They Met
Jenny and David first crossed paths while working at the same urgent care office here in Washington. After five years of dating and building a life together, they decided to make it official. They chose to elope in beautiful Hawaii, just the two of them, keeping the ceremony personal and intimate. But they still wanted to celebrate with loved ones back home, so they planned a reception that was simple, meaningful, and low-stress.
Their vision? A semi-formal gathering that prioritized candid photos, family portraits, and connection over perfection. They didn’t want anything extravagant—just good food, a beautiful space, and the people they love most. And Royal Oaks delivered exactly that.
Why Royal Oaks Country Club Was the Perfect Fit
Royal Oaks Country Club made their reception feel effortless. It’s truly an all-in-one venue, offering the space, linens, tables, and catering—so Jenny and David could focus on enjoying the day rather than stressing over the details.
Speaking of catering… as a wedding photographer, I’ve had my fair share of smoked beef brisket—but the brisket at Royal Oaks was next level. Seriously, one of the best I’ve ever had! The full menu included a wedge salad bar, mac and cheese, potato salad, cornbread, and more. It was comfort food done to perfection.
Favorite Moments From the Day
There were so many touching parts of this reception, but one of my favorites was during the showing of their Hawaiian elopement video. While the footage played, I looked over and caught David’s oldest son wiping away tears. It was a quiet, emotional moment that spoke volumes.
Later, the couple invited guests to share spontaneous toasts with an “open mic” format—something I always recommend for smaller weddings or even rehearsal dinners. The words were heartfelt, funny, and made everyone feel part of the celebration.
Toward the end of the evening, David and his sons took to the dance floor. From the moment we first met, David said his one must-have photo was of him dancing with his kids—and they made it a moment to remember. At one point, his youngest son even broke out the worm! It was such a joyful way to wrap up the night.
A Few Kind Words from the Bride
Jenny later left the sweetest review on Google, and it meant the world to me. Here’s what she had to say:
“Cambrae is very quick and efficient. She goes above and beyond—even offering recommendations for decorating and setting up the reception. The photos she created turned out beautiful. She made sure to capture every detail and meet our expectations. She did great capturing the special moments. I highly recommend!”
