A True Surprise

I was lucky enough to be in attendance at Andrea & Stefan's wedding, so I was over the moon when they selected me to be the Portland maternity photographer to take their fall maternity photos at Rood Bridge Park.

When Andrea told me they were waiting to find out the sex of their first child, I was so excited for them. I knew they had a true surprise ahead of them. After my dear friend, Riann, had her first baby I knew that keeping the gender a secret would be the way I'd want to go if I ever have children. I remember asking Riann why she decided to wait until birth to find out the sex of her baby, she said to me "...because there are few true surprises in life" and that has always stuck with me. We did some chatting ahead of the maternity photography session and I knew Andrea & Stefan would love a location highlighting Oregon's beautiful fall. Having been to Rood Bridge Park before I knew how beautiful it was and in the fall it truly shines! The views and backdrops here as all the leaves turn are magical. We a location selected, clothing and props planned, the three, well three and a half, of us headed to Rood Bridge Park. I was so excited to capture this special time in their lives among the beautiful fall colors.

When Andrea showed up with this amazing teal dress she bought from Etsy I was elated! Andrea always takes time to think about what she will wear and how it blends with the environment, and I love that she is not afraid of color! In the final product the way this teal pops out against the warm tones of this fall day are just perfect.

Ultrasound photos are always a great item to bring along to your maternity photography session. There are so many cute ways to incorporate them, putting them with your wedding rings, baby shoes, and lots more.

I am always blown away by peoples kindness in their reviews. Not only am I thankful they take the time out of their day to post them, but also that they see in their photos what I do. Not just a snap shot in time, but part of a legacy. Part of preserving the beginnings of a new family, for the generation that is being created and for the ones those generations will create.
