Scrabble Themed Wedding at Vancouver Convention Centre | Washington

Sherica & Thomas

Celebrating 10 years of Marriage

Since my photography business is celebrating 10 years, I thought it would be fun to highlight my amazing couples that were part of that year. Plus it gives me the chance to wish them all a "Happy 10th Anniversary!".

Sherica and Thomas were married on March 12, 2011 at the Vancouver Convention Centre in Washington and I was honored to be their wedding photographer.

Scrabble and the color orange was the theme for this wedding. I always love when couples incorporate little details that really express their personality. Sherica's orange wedding shoes had her new name embroidered on them and the ring box was a scrabble tile. One of my favorite things was their scrabble board guest book, what a fun and original idea even 10 years later!

"Life is not a book, it is merely scrabble."

- Sylversong

I really enjoyed looking back through the images and reliving the day. I reached out to Sherica and Thomas to add some of their own words to this blog and Thomas answered the call!

Tell Me the Story of How You Two Met.

"Sherica and I met at a mutual acquaintance's Halloween party. She went as a nerd and I was the Devil. We both mistakenly thought the other was in costume that night. "

Tell Me Your Proposal Story.

"I proposed to Sherica on New Year's Eve just before we left the house to go out that night. Pretty standard I suppose. She was crying, I was on one knee, she was previously angry that I was making her go out when she wasn't feeling well and I was wondering if I was picking a bad time. She said "Yes" BTW."

You wouldn't believe how many proposals story I hear that go just like this. Haha, nothing in life is perfect, and it's those imperfections that make those moments so memorable.

What is Your Favorite Memory From Your Wedding Day?

"My favorite wedding day memory was the dancing after our reception. I had arranged a play list that was targeted to my older relatives early in the evening and went more contemporary as the night wore on. It turned out my Aunts outlasted all of my young friends and closed the floor."

Is there anything else you would like to share about your wedding photos?

"I would only add that we were very pleased with how our wedding turned out and even more pleased with the next 10 years. Our wedding pictures still dominate the walls of our house and we still feel joy every time we look at them."
