A Fun Job Brings Two People Together

I was so thrilled to be the Portland engagement photographer that Linnea and Matt chose for their fun engagement photography session at Oaks Amusement Park (Oaks Amusement Park).

Matt's Mom and sister first met Linnea when she joined their team at Oaks Amusement Park. Matt's Mom kept prepping Linnea that “her Matthew” was coming to work there. When Matt arrived, Linnea and him started to get to know each other. Eventually Matt made the first move, after a night out bowling, he asked her on a real date.

I guess, like many times, Mom knew best.

There first date was going to see the Lone Ranger at Oak Grove Cinema. They thought a Johnny Depp movie would be good…but I think we all know the answer to that question...no. I remember watching reruns of the original Lone Ranger when I was a kid.

When we started planning for Linnea and Matt's engagement photography session we knew Oaks Park would be the perfect backdrop and we also knew we would have no problem getting permission to photograph at the park and possibly getting some special access. Having met there, Linnea and Matt had some rides that were important for them in include as part of their love story. One of those spots was the train! In fact, Linnea and Matt decided to purchase a beautiful modern 20x30 metal print to hang in their home so this moment will always be with them.

According to their website, Oaks Amusement Park has been "where the fun never ends" since 1905! Actually it opened on May 30th so we just pasted the parks 115 year anniversary. Wow, that's incredible! I often pass by the park when walking along the Springwater Corridor on my way to Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, the next time I go by I will look at it with new eyes knowing how many amazing things that property has likely seen.

Reviews are so important to new couples when they are searching for an engagement or wedding photographer, so I always appreciate it when couple take their time to leave one..or more then one. In this case Linnea and Matt left reviews on Google and Yelp, this is what they had to say:

I love the way Linnea and Matt tied in the colors for their wedding, purple and blue, into their engagement photos, and the environment. I always tell couple NEVER be afraid to wear color! Color can be such a great addition to the landscape, to set a mood, or add to the theme of your wedding. Plus, you can always bring more then one outfit! So whether you prefer a formal look and/or a fun look, it's easy to do both in one session.
